Basketball is a sport extremely competitive, load of emotions, where the humors can be very intense, above all when the difference of score among the two teams is least. In this contest, the referees must always have prepared from the physical point of view and to maintain the control of the game and it is necessary that is firm, and resolved. Objectives This research want to show how much can engrave the emotional component on the course of the heart rate in the referees during the arbitrage in the young basketball match. Materials and methods In 2009 we have been “monitorate” 20 games of basketball, organized by Italian Basketball Federation and conducted by an alone referee, in how much the emotional and psychological aspect is surely more remarkable. The 9 referees are divided in 3 groups and separate for bands of age and for years of experience in the arbitrage. For the monitoring in automatic of the arbitrages, every referees has been furnished of a ’heart-frequency’ (Polar, model RS400sd), endowed with clock and thoracic band. The recording of the data is initiated middly 20’ before the beginning of the game and finished around 10’ after the end
