L'industria serica comasca. Dinamiche localizzative e caratteri strutturali

THE SILK INDUSTRY IN THE COMO AREA. LOCATION DYNAMICS AND STRUCTURAL CHARACTERISTICS - This paper analyses in the long term the location dynamics of the silk industry in the Como area in relation to the structural changes of the productive cycle. The study proves that the actual configuration of this industry –characterized by concentration of activities in the southern part of the area –started to take shape since the first half of the twentieth century. The study also points out the present features of this sector which is composed of different types of companies (in a large number of small companies, a few big companies and converter). Finally, it deals with Como silk industry's problems with respect to the market globalization processes.

Lo studio analizza nel lungo periodo le dinamiche localizzative dell’industria serica in provincia di Como in rapporto ai cambiamenti strutturali del ciclo produttivo. Esso dimostra che l’attuale schema insediativo di tale industria – contraddistinto dalla concentrazione dell’attività nella sezione meridionale della provincia – è andato configurandosi nella prima metà del Novecento. Lo studio evidenzia poi le caratteristiche del settore, che risulta articolato in diversi tipi di imprese (numerose piccole imprese, poche grandi imprese e converter). Infine, considera i problemi dell’industria serica comasca di fronte ai processi di globalizzazione del mercato.
