In our social context, where the proliferation and spectacularization of emotions comes together with the withering and the drying up of feelings, the need for emotional literacy is strongly perceived. The phenomenological analysis, by overtaking the traditional contrast between sense and sensibility, reveals the primacy of affectivity in the constitution of experience. In this way, emotional education can be released from its inferiority in respect to intellectual or moral education. Nevertheless, the pedagogy of the affective life must go beyond the reductive paradigm of the "emotional intelligence" towards a "sentimental education", as a deep exploration of oneself that makes possible a deep comprehension of the others.

Abstract
