Consideringtheexpansionofthegreenmarketandthegrowingimportanceofenvironmentalinformationinthefoodsector,in2012theEnvironmentalLabelforfoodwasbornbytheinitiativeoftheItalianConsultancyCompanySPRIMandtheInstituteofAgrarianandEnvironmentalChemistryoftheUniversitàCattolicadelSacroCuore(Piacenza,Italy). Thelabel,simpletounderstandbyconsumers,hasbeendesignedtobeplaceddirectlyonfoodpackaging,inordertoallowcomparisonbetweenproductsand,consequently,tosupportmoreinformedchoices.Areportaboutthecalculationisavailableonthewebsite.
