In accordance with the main political-regulatory directions, there is a growing awareness towards STEM disciplines, linked to the numerous requests from the labour market. Technicalscientific skills are necessary to cope with the green and digital transitions. Training in STEM is an issue that urges the promotion of the educational value these disciplines can offer. This requests the pedagogical sciences, in dialogue with the hard sciences, for an approach to STEM oriented towards integral, fair and sustainable human development; it involves pedagogists, teachers and students engaged in STEM training. Among the perspectives to which this contribution presents, the following heuristic question, that comes from the initial phase of the research "Science for benefit. Training young generations in scientific thinking for active citizenship", is considered emblematic: what training is necessary to promote the educational value of STEM?
In linea con i principali indirizzi politico-normativi, è nota la crescente sensibilità verso le discipline STEM, correlata alle numerose richieste da parte del mondo produttivo. Per far fronte alle transizioni green e digitale sono necessarie competenze tecnico-scientifiche. Formare alle STEM è una questione che interpella la promozione del valore educativo che tali discipline possono apportare. Ciò interroga le scienze pedagogiche, in dialogo con le hard sciences, per un approccio alle STEM orientato ad uno sviluppo umano integrale, equo e sostenibile; chiama in causa pedagogiste/i, insegnanti e studentesse/i coinvolti nella formazione alle STEM. Tra le prospettive a cui apre il presente contributo, si ritiene emblematica la seguente domanda euristica che scaturisce dalla fase iniziale della ricerca “Science for benefit. Formare al pensiero scientifico le giovani generazioni per una cittadinanza attiva”: quale formazione è necessaria per promuovere il valore educativo delle STEM?
