The publication of the new handbook Storia del Mediterraneo Medievale. Tempi, spazi, interazioni (Il Mulino, 2025), edited by Antonio Musarra and Pietro Silanos, provides an opportunity to reflect on the status of a discipline, medieval studies, which appears to be far removed – at least in terms of teaching – from contemplating the Mediterranean within its own horizon. The following discussion, by Pinuccia F. Simbula and Nicolangelo D'Acunto, scholars from different backgrounds, reflects the complexity of a volume destined to redefine the coordinates of teaching and historical research.

Abstract
The publication of the new handbook Storia del Mediterraneo Medievale. Tempi, spazi, interazioni (Il Mulino, 2025), edited by Antonio Musarra and Pietro Silanos, provides an opportunity to reflect on the status of a discipline, medieval studies, which appears to be far removed – at least in terms of teaching – from contemplating the Mediterranean within its own horizon. The following discussion, by Pinuccia F. Simbula and Nicolangelo D'Acunto, scholars from different backgrounds, reflects the complexity of a volume destined to redefine the coordinates of teaching and historical research.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
