Sport for disable persons in Italy has in I.P.C. a well-grounded and efficacious coordinating institution, which promotes in the Department 9, the sport activity of people with intellective-relational disability – IRD. The data till today indicate 5290 athletes having a membership IRD card and 395 sport associations I.P.C.– IRD affiliated. Track and field events take place on the athletics tracks, which are usually used for FIDAL events. The standard of participation of the athletes have been subdivided as follows: base and advanced level .The purpose of this study is to certify that in the four-year period 2004-2007 at Italian track and field championships for disabled people we had: 1) among the athletes an increase not only as regards the quantity (linear increase of the number of people doing this sport) but also as regards the quality (increase of the number of athletes who in 2007 took parts in the advanced level competitions; 2) among the sport associations there is a substantial confirmation of the number of adhesions to the activities proposed by Italian Para-Olympic Committee.
