Does the high volume of information we constantly receive actually make us more informed? To gain a clearer picture of citizens' perceptions during the COVID-19 pandemic, we conducted a small exploratory survey via WhatsApp and Facebook during the initial phase of the health emergency. The preliminary results of the study indicate that, although many respondents were exposed to the circulation and sharing of false news, a significant number were aware of the need to verify information through official sources. Moreover, the climate of concern and alarmism does not appear to have significantly impacted respondents' quality of life or reduced their sense of personal security to an alarming level.

Abstract
Does the high volume of information we constantly receive actually make us more informed? To gain a clearer picture of citizens' perceptions during the COVID-19 pandemic, we conducted a small exploratory survey via WhatsApp and Facebook during the initial phase of the health emergency. The preliminary results of the study indicate that, although many respondents were exposed to the circulation and sharing of false news, a significant number were aware of the need to verify information through official sources. Moreover, the climate of concern and alarmism does not appear to have significantly impacted respondents' quality of life or reduced their sense of personal security to an alarming level.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
