The article is concerned with analysing the possibilities of teaching and learning phraseology from an English-German contrastive perspective on the basis of a TLA and DaFnE teaching framework. Since in the Italian teaching context German is learnt as L3 after English and in view of the psycho-typological similarity between the two languages, proposals for exercises aimed at tapping into these common features are presented. The learning of the phraseological units is achieved through movie language in order to expose the learners to authentic material and instances of real language. The proposed exercises are based on the American Movie Corpus and have three different methodological focuses: positive transfer, negative transfer and interjections.
