Since the beginning of his pontificate, Pope Francis has emphasised ecological issues in his social teaching. His magisterium has directed ecclesial bodies, both at a central and peripheral level, to consider ecology. However, he has also been influenced by local realities, which have sometimes anticipated ideas rising from the bottom upwards, reaching the Bishop of Rome. In this context, characterised by a participatory and synodal dimension, the work of the Episcopal Conferences is particularly significant. References to their reflections strongly characterise the most recent pontifical documents, leading to an innovation in the way norms are constructed.

Abstract
Since the beginning of his pontificate, Pope Francis has emphasised ecological issues in his social teaching. His magisterium has directed ecclesial bodies, both at a central and peripheral level, to consider ecology. However, he has also been influenced by local realities, which have sometimes anticipated ideas rising from the bottom upwards, reaching the Bishop of Rome. In this context, characterised by a participatory and synodal dimension, the work of the Episcopal Conferences is particularly significant. References to their reflections strongly characterise the most recent pontifical documents, leading to an innovation in the way norms are constructed.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
