The elaboration of the concept of the interesting runs through a large part of Manzoni’s reflection and over time its function changes: before being clearly indicated as a means of literature and poetry in the famous passage of the Lettera sul Romanticismo, it is placed as the aim of poetry in the form of the noun ‘interest’ in the Materiali estetici. The contribution examines in particular these notes and aims to outline the identity of the category of the interesting that begins to take shape in them, bringing to light Manzoni’s corrections compared to the perspectives of his interlocutors of those years. To this aim, we focus on the impulse offered to Manzoni’s reflection by Fauriel’s work on the idyll of Baggesen and on the elements that, earlier, in the years of his youthful training, Manzoni may have assimilated through the study of Parini’s Lezioni di Belle Lettere

Abstract
The elaboration of the concept of the interesting runs through a large part of Manzoni’s reflection and over time its function changes: before being clearly indicated as a means of literature and poetry in the famous passage of the Lettera sul Romanticismo, it is placed as the aim of poetry in the form of the noun ‘interest’ in the Materiali estetici. The contribution examines in particular these notes and aims to outline the identity of the category of the interesting that begins to take shape in them, bringing to light Manzoni’s corrections compared to the perspectives of his interlocutors of those years. To this aim, we focus on the impulse offered to Manzoni’s reflection by Fauriel’s work on the idyll of Baggesen and on the elements that, earlier, in the years of his youthful training, Manzoni may have assimilated through the study of Parini’s Lezioni di Belle LettereI documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
