This paper gives a contribution in SMEs and European Funding projects literature exploring European SME funding project applications leading to failures by adopting the IMP perspective on business relationships and the actor-resource-activity (ARA) model as theoretical framework. In line with the explorative nature of the research question a multiple case study analysis is performed by taking into account three SME-Instrument projects undertaken by Italian SMEs with the support of consulting firm Omega.
