La letteratura antagonista. Modernità e potere

This crowded excursus, which goes from Alfieri to the present, examines the relationship between writers and power in the time of literary modernity. Developed in various forms following the different ages, it appears, we might say a priori, marked with a hardened conflict: the modern and contemporary literature, voice always “out of line” as to as to the official narrative of power, has always been a thorn in the flesh, rising as critical conscience of the Country. This essay sees, therefore, in that antagonistic function one of the most recognizable and significant identity traits of literary modernity.

In questo affollato excursus, che da Alfieri si spinge fino ai giorni nostri, si esamina il rapporto tra scrittori e potere nel tempo della modernità letteraria. Declinato in forme diverse a seconda delle fasi storiche, esso appare segnato, si direbbe a priori, da un irriducibile conflitto: la letteratura moderna e contemporanea, voce sempre “fuori di chiave” rispetto alla narrazione ufficiale del potere, è stata la sua spina al fianco, ergendosi a coscienza critica del Paese. Nella funzione antagonistica il saggio ravvisa, perciò, uno dei tratti identitari più riconoscibili e qualificanti della modernità letteraria.
