This paper analyzes some developments of digital technologies of vision from the perspective of media theory. The article challenges the idea, typical of some areas of postmodern thought, according to which the dissemination of visual media would produce a "disappearance of reality." According to the author, new visual technologies neither undermine reality nor reproduce it: rather, they allow new and more complex relations between people and reality, thus shaping forms of "neo-presence" of subjects in the world.

Abstract
This paper analyzes some developments of digital technologies of vision from the perspective of media theory. The article challenges the idea, typical of some areas of postmodern thought, according to which the dissemination of visual media would produce a "disappearance of reality." According to the author, new visual technologies neither undermine reality nor reproduce it: rather, they allow new and more complex relations between people and reality, thus shaping forms of "neo-presence" of subjects in the world.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
