The results of cognitive tests in a group of obstructive sleep apnea patients free from therapy studied at the time of diagnosis yielded a large rate of pathological results, particularly in the working memory and attention (Stroop test). Recurrent cerebral hypoperfusion and diminished oxygen arterial tension are the main mechanisms underlying these results.

Abstract

The results of cognitive tests in a group of obstructive sleep apnea patients free from therapy studied at the time of diagnosis yielded a large rate of pathological results, particularly in the working memory and attention (Stroop test). Recurrent cerebral hypoperfusion and diminished oxygen arterial tension are the main mechanisms underlying these results.
