Guardando ai longobardi tra storia e archeologia

On the basis of recent historiography on the subject of Lombards, the relationships between history and medieval archeology, between medieval historians and archaeologists and between research methods and diagnostic techniques are examined. The purposes and limits of the respective disciplines are compared, with attention to the value of the material and traditional historical-archival sources, up to highlighting the importance of joint interdisciplinary research and unitary projects in compliance with the various areas of historical investigation.

Sulla base della storiografia recente in tema di longobardi si esaminano i rapporti tra storia e archeologia medievale, tra storici medievisti e archeologi e tra metodi di ricerca e tecniche diagnostiche; finalità e limiti delle rispettive discipline sono messi a confronto, con attenzione al valore delle fonti materiali e di quelle storico-archivistiche tradizionali, fino a rimarcare l’importanza di ricerche interdisciplinari congiunte e di progetti unitari nel rispetto dei vari ambiti di indagine storica.
