The focus of this article is the analysis of the link between poverty, social exclusion and inequal- ity, highlighting the urban spatial dimensions of these phenomenons. Nowadays social exclusion is a rich and fruitful tool for examining the deprivation and growing gaps, but it needs a more complex scientifi c approach. For these reasons, we propose a geographical approach, both in qualitative and quantitative terms. The two cases selected are the municipality of Magenta and Casale Monferrato, once included in the so-called “Industrial Triangle” (Northwest Italy). The paper underlines that the malaise produced by social disqualifi cation is strengthened by the appearance of new forms of spatial deprivation. The paper also suggests that spatial deprivation nourishes and consolidates economic and social inequalities.

Abstract
The paper also suggests that spatial deprivation nourishes and consolidates economic and social inequalities.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
