This paper deals with some aspects of death in war in antiquity, focusing in particular on the Greek world: legitimacy of killing in war, military confrontation models, wounds types to which fighters were exposed, massacres of soldiers and of civilians, treatment of prisoners of war, public opinion reactions to the horrors of war.

L’articolo considera alcuni aspetti della morte in guerra nell’antichità, con particolare attenzione al mondo greco: la legittimità dell’uccidere in guerra, le modalità dello scontro militare, il tipo di ferite cui i combattenti si esponevano, i massacri di soldati e di civili, il trattamento dei prigionieri di guerra, le reazioni dell’opinione pubblica di fronte agli orrori della guerra.
