"Dobbiamo ritentare la fuga". L'inizio e i finali delle «Avventure di Pinocchio»

In Le Avventure di Pinocchio three episodes deserve special attention, for they open and close the puppet’s story: the flight from his father at the beginning of the book (chapter III), the flight from the murderers, which ends the part published in 1881 on the “Giornale per i bambini” (chapters XIV-XV) and, finally, the flight from the Shark, which marks the end of the final version of the work, published in 1883 by Paggi (chapters XXXV-XXXVI). The analysis has enabled to point out how the relationship reason-instinct marks an evolution in Pinocchio’s modes of flight, leaving unaltered, however, the fundamental structure. The mechanism of both endings is organized according to a closed form, that, having death as a starting point and as an outcome, poses itself as an alternative to the character growing up.

Nelle Avventure di Pinocchio tre episodi meritano particolare attenzione perché aprono e chiudono la storia del burattino: la fuga dal padre all’inizio del libro (cap. III), quella dagli assassini che pone fine alla tranche pubblicata nel 1881 sul “Giornale per i bambini” (capp. XIV-XV) e, infine, la fuga dal Pesce-cane con la quale termina la versione definitiva dell’opera, uscita nel 1883 per i tipi di Paggi (capp. XXXV-XXXVI). L’analisi ha permesso di evidenziare come il rapporto istinto-ragione segni un’evoluzione nelle modalità di fuga di Pinocchio, lasciandone tuttavia inalterata la struttura di fondo. Il meccanismo di entrambi i finali si articola infatti secondo una forma chiusa che, avendo la morte come punto di partenza e come esito conclusivo, si pone in alternativa ad un iter di formazione.
