In her paper, Scarpa reports on the results of her research on a small monolingual corpus of ‘Terms and Conditions of Use’ from corporate websites. Scarpa compares two sub-corpora composed of translated and non-translated texts, using English as a Lingua Franca (ELF) and English as a Native Language (ENL) respectively. The aim of the research is to find similarities/differences in terms of layout, content, lexis and phraseology. The results show that the format of the ‘Terms and Conditions of Use’ in both ENL and ELF texts is influenced by the differences in the various national legislations.

Scarpa compares two sub-corpora composed of translated and non-translated texts, using English as a Lingua Franca (ELF) and English as a Native Language (ENL) respectively. The aim of the research is to find similarities/differences in terms of layout, content, lexis and phraseology. The results show that the format of the ‘Terms and Conditions of Use’ in both ENL and ELF texts is influenced by the differences in the various national legislations.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
