In the late fifites and early sixties, Beckett was heavily involved in writing for the radio and composed three radio plays for the BBC, one in French, for RTF, as well as two further texts which, considered unfinische, remained unknown until the end of the seventies, when they were published. This essays deals with these six texts, rebuilding, through quotations from sources and testimonym the general framework inside which Beckett's radio experience is to be placed, and trying to individuate the most fertile lines of interpretation in an already ample critique. A difficult object of study due to the compleity of its statute as well as poor access to the recordings, Beckett's plays for radio reveal a significant moment not only in the author's path through words and silence, but also in the development of the genre itself, of which Beckett explores both limits and possibilities, creating new directions and perspectives.
