The last leaf of MS Toledo, Archivo y Biblioteca Capitulares, Zelada 104 6 (fol. 267 verso), the famous Dante copied by Boccaccio, has a very fine portrait of Homer, visible only in ultraviolet light. Identification is made possible by a caption based on Inferno iv 88, «Homero poeta sovrano». Beneath the drawing Boccaccio wrote a few barely legible words in Greek lettering. A decipherment is offered: it is Boccaccio’s signature.
