In 1953 Renzo Biasion published "Sagapò", a collection of short stories about the war of Greece (1941-1943). The movie based on the book was never made. Only in 1991 Gabriele Salvatores made the movie "Mediterraneo": the screenplay by Enzo Monteleone was inspired by Biasion's stories and won the Oscar for best foreign film.
