Gioacchino da Fiore esegeta. Acquisizioni e problemi aperti fra testi e «figurae»

This contribution, presented in the symposium «Nos qui in fine sumus, multa possumus colligere» (Concordia, l. V, c. 111). Gli Opera omnia di Gioacchino da Fiore: vent’anni di edizioni e di studi (1990-2010), organized in June 2011 by the Istituto Storico Italiano and the Centro Internazionale di Studi Gioachimiti, presents a status quaestionis on Scriptural exegesis in Joachim of Fiore. As a matter of fact, the Calabrian abbot’s whole system, and beside this, his own speculative method, are fundamentally based on the interpretation of the biblical data: it is this particular method, on the other hand, that outlines Joachim’s peculiarities, and supports – or even establishes– the main themes of his thought. The problem is addressed as much with regard to the abbot’s writings, as with regard to his figurae. Both similarities to and divergences from contemporary currents are thus highlighted. Concerning some of the issues that remain open the Author proposes some areas of investigation which, at a first comparison, seem to present interesting developments.
