The Focus in this issue of the Journal features an essay by Lord Maurice Glasman, who is a Labour life peer in the House of Lords, Reader in Political Theory at London Metropolitan University and Director of its Faith and Citizenship Programme. The article is a revised version of a distinguished lecture delivered by Lord Glasman at the Centesimus annus – Pro Pontifice Foundation International Conference held at Palazzo della Cancelleria, Rome and the Vatican, in May 2013.
