The contribution introduces the conference held at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (Milan, 3rd May 2011)to honour the memory of two illustrious historians of religions, Ugo Bianchi and Ioan Petru Culianu, the Master and his then pupil, who met at the Università Cattolica (Milan) in a particularly fertile season for their respective scientific experiences.
