Dall’opinione alla conoscenza: dinamiche epistemiche

The paper concerns the notion of knowledge and argues that knowledge is not to be identified only with episteme (i.e. true and demonstrated belief) but with right opinion too, if we want to avoid both skepticism and relativism. In order to get over the ancient dichotomy between doxa and episteme we have to reform both of them, adopting a systemic approach. The systemic view can help us define knowledge as a dynamic set, where change is possible and where novelties can always come out. Knowledge is a difficult achievement, but we really can grasp some truth, even if not all truth, because the world is very complex and subtle, while our cognitive skills are limited.

Nel saggio, che riguarda la nozione di conoscenza, si sostiene che la conoscenza non deve essere identificata soltanto con l’episteme (cioè credenza vera e dimostrata), ma anche con la retta opinione, se si vuole evitare tanto lo scetticismo quanto il relativismo. Per superare l’antica dicotomia fra doxa ed episteme, occorre rivedere entrambe le nozioni, adottanto un approccio sistemico. La concezione sistemica può essere d’aiuto per definire la conoscenza come una struttura dinamica, in cui è possibile il cambiamento e l’emergere di novità. La conoscenza è una conquista faticosa, ma è realmente possibile cogliere qualche verità, sebbene non tutta la verità, poiché la realtà è molto complessa e ricca di sfumature, mentre le nostre abilità cognitive sono limitate.
