Naturists have been influenced by the two major literary movements of the second half of the 19th century: Symbolism and Naturalism. At the beginning, Naturists admire Symbolist artists and adopt many of their rhetorical techniques: synesthesia, thematic association, vers libéré and prose poem. Later on, they become critical and begin to stigmatize the obscurity and artificiality of Symbolist texts. They move towards Naturalism, progressively appreciating the real world, and towards Zola, who offered them his support for the publication of their manifesto and a moral model, as with the affaire Dreyfus.

Abstract
Naturists have been influenced by the two major literary movements of the second half of the 19th century: Symbolism and Naturalism. At the beginning, Naturists admire Symbolist artists and adopt many of their rhetorical techniques: synesthesia, thematic association, vers libéré and prose poem. Later on, they become critical and begin to stigmatize the obscurity and artificiality of Symbolist texts. They move towards Naturalism, progressively appreciating the real world, and towards Zola, who offered them his support for the publication of their manifesto and a moral model, as with the affaire Dreyfus.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
