Relaxation techniques have been investigated by psychological and medical literature for dozen of years. Dur- ing these years, relaxation techniques have provided an increasingly perception of efficacy toward health professionals, in the promotion of psychological and physical well-being and in the reduction of stress-related pathologies. This review tries to summarize clinical contexts and situations where the efficacy of relaxation has been investigated. Limits and counter-indica- tions of relaxation training are also discussed.
