This paper studies conditions under which the class of nonsingular M -matrices is invariant under multiplication by and addition of matrices that are related to M -matrices and Stieltjes matrices. Also, special sums and products are considered. The applicability to the open Leontʹev model is discussed, namely perturbations of its technical coefficients matrix.

Abstract
