Today, Italy finds itself at a crossroads in which to choose from a still emerging or functional vision of immigration - which limits its role to the absorption of immigrants and their integration into its social systems - or to entrust established institutions with the task of creating true equality and opportunity among all citizens of all origins regardless of social and ethnic backgrounds. In other words, it finds itself with the requirement of merging the integration of inter-cultural education. In particular, the arrival of the second generation requires: legal solutions to grant citizenship to those born in Italy; a strong commitment from schools to identify intercultural dimensions; the formation of efficient educational strategies to combat new forms of racism; the creation of competent intercultural teachers and educators.

Abstract
Today, Italy finds itself at a crossroads in which to choose from a still emerging or functional vision of immigration - which limits its role to the absorption of immigrants and their integration into its social systems - or to entrust established institutions with the task of creating true equality and opportunity among all citizens of all origins regardless of social and ethnic backgrounds. In other words, it finds itself with the requirement of merging the integration of inter-cultural education. In particular, the arrival of the second generation requires: legal solutions to grant citizenship to those born in Italy; a strong commitment from schools to identify intercultural dimensions; the formation of efficient educational strategies to combat new forms of racism; the creation of competent intercultural teachers and educators.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
