This is an article in a Business English Course column that Enrico Reggiani wrote and edited for the Italian economics newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore for more than twenty years (1986-2008). Financial Times was its only original English source. Between 1986 and 1992 (January 27), Reggiani’s fortnightly column was organized in two sections (with the addition of a short bibliography of the books mentioned in abridged form in the text of the second one): 1) the TEXT of a specialized article from Financial Times on socio-political-economic subjects (printed in full in the column); 2) THE TRANSLATION, with the Italian translation of its most notable passages, comments on some of its most important specialized terms, and annotations on some of its most relevant textual, structural, communicational, linguistic, cultural, literary, institutional etc. features.
