At the crossroads of the transformations brought by the ‘economic miracle’, the weekly Il Punto, edited by Vittorio Calef, constitutes a privileged prospective from which to examine the relationship between engagement, literature, and mass society. Alongside the presence of young critics such as Pietro Citati and Antonio Debenedetti, and poets such as Giorgio Caproni, the magazine’s cultural supplement makes it possible to outline a profile of the literary culture of those years through an analysis of its reviewing strategy, which helps to situate the journal’s moderate tone of voice. The transition from the 1950s to the decade of the ‘boom’ also fosters a shift toward a rotogravure format, contributing to an increasing emphasis on social reportage and celebrity at the expense of literary criticism. The analysis of the supplement thus offers valuable evidence for observing the representation of the intellectual figure within an increasingly mass-consumption context, at the intersection of commitment, public visibility, and editorial success.

Abstract
The analysis of the supplement thus offers valuable evidence for observing the representation of the intellectual figure within an increasingly mass-consumption context, at the intersection of commitment, public visibility, and editorial success.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
