Più Società con lo Stato: l’urgenza di una nuova sintesi

The article argues for moving beyond the formula “more society, less state,” which emerged during the rediscovery of subsidiarity, toward a new synthesis based on the idea of “more society with the state.” In a context marked by polycrises, weakened social cohesion, and a growing demand for protection, the author suggests that the return of the state should not lead to neo-statism, but rather to a promotional redefinition of its relationship with intermediate bodies. This perspective operates on three levels: shared administration at the local level, a capability-oriented renewal of welfare, and a strategic role for the state in external protection policies, so that civil society and public institutions may be reconnected within a new subsidiarity-based paradigm.
