Like all other societies, the Italian one faces the challenges of demographic changes due to migration. Among these, the educational one: it is urgent to give structural and lasting responses over time, so that we can aim at an educational reform that values linguistic and cultural diversity and brings equity and social justice at school. This article explores some of the new educational challenges of the 21st century, in relation to the presence of students with a migrant background in Italian schools. It aims to rethink teaching through the decolonial lens, challenging the Eurocentric dominance in school curricula and highlighting its potential to foster an intercultural perspective, towards a community that embraces the "culture of difference".

Abstract

Like all other societies, the Italian one faces the challenges of demographic changes due to migration.
