The paper investigates the space devoted to Chinese characters hand-writing in Chinese as a Foreign Language textbooks used in Italian high schools. Through a descriptive analysis of four representative textbooks, the study examines the presence of theoretical and practical content linked to Chinese characters hand-writing, as well as the quantity of related exercises provided. The findings reveal the persistent centrality of hand-writing, even in an increasingly digitalized context. It is therefore considered useful to complement textbooks with information readily accessible about technological tools, which today can better meet the needs of “digital native” students while still preserving the rich linguistic and cultural value embodied in Chinese characters.

Abstract
The paper investigates the space devoted to Chinese characters hand-writing in Chinese as a Foreign Language textbooks used in Italian high schools. Through a descriptive analysis of four representative textbooks, the study examines the presence of theoretical and practical content linked to Chinese characters hand-writing, as well as the quantity of related exercises provided. The findings reveal the persistent centrality of hand-writing, even in an increasingly digitalized context. It is therefore considered useful to complement textbooks with information readily accessible about technological tools, which today can better meet the needs of “digital native” students while still preserving the rich linguistic and cultural value embodied in Chinese characters.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
