This essay aims to highlight the anthropological relevance of the theme of the body and our relationship with corporeality; to focus on the identity-forming dimension of the human being, both to argue that we must – and not merely can – revive a reflection on the body, and to recognise that any consideration must also take the body into account, insofar as the body, in its bio-physiological dimension, plays a part in this reflection. To address the question of the centrality of the body, the starting point takes two references into account: neuroscientific research and ancestral anthropological cultures. Drawing on the thought of Helmuth Plessner, Günther Anders and Maurice Merleau-Ponty, the essay reflects on the internal relationality of the body and on the bodily experiences through which we perceive the world and work towards its transformation.

Abstract
This essay aims to highlight the anthropological relevance of the theme of the body and our relationship with corporeality; to focus on the identity-forming dimension of the human being, both to argue that we must – and not merely can – revive a reflection on the body, and to recognise that any consideration must also take the body into account, insofar as the body, in its bio-physiological dimension, plays a part in this reflection. To address the question of the centrality of the body, the starting point takes two references into account: neuroscientific research and ancestral anthropological cultures. Drawing on the thought of Helmuth Plessner, Günther Anders and Maurice Merleau-Ponty, the essay reflects on the internal relationality of the body and on the bodily experiences through which we perceive the world and work towards its transformation.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
