This chapter examines the educational situation of students with a migrant background in the province of Brescia during the 2023/24 academic year. It highlights key trends, developments, and disparities, shedding light on both strengths and critical issues in the current multicultural school landscape. Particular attention is given to what makes Brescia unique in comparison to the rest of Lombardy and to the national context. The analysis covers the enrolment of migrant students from early childhood to upper secondary education, changes in their incidence over time, achievement gaps, learning loss, and the phenomenon of ethnic penalties. It also explores the presence of both low-and high-performing students, as well as participation in higher education. The study draws on data from MIM, INVALSI, and MUR to offer regional and national comparisons between Italian and non-Italian students.
