The function and development of monasticism in Italy during the Lombard period are documented. In particular, the paper sheds light on the kingdom's and duchies' policies regarding the foundation of religious buildings and how their establishment contributed to strengthening relations with the Roman Church, the spread of monastic life, and the consolidation of the kingdom.
Si documentano la funzione e lo sviluppo del monachesimo in Italia in età longobarda. In particolare, si fa luce sulla politica del regno e dei ducati nella fondazione di edifici di culto e di come il loro avvio abbia contribuito a rafforzare i rapporti con la Chiesa romana, alla diffusione della vita monastica e al consolidamento del regno.
