The article examines the activities of the Italian League for Mental Hygiene and Prophylaxis in the postwar period, using the journal Igiene Mentale, the organization's official journal, as its primary documentary source. The study highlights psychiatrists' reflections on the need to implement support measures for families to prevent the onset of mental disorders, promoting a multidisciplinary approach involving pediatricians, psychologists, psychiatrists, and educators. Among the innovative initiatives supported by the League were the creation and strengthening of medical-psycho-pedagogical centres, as well as awareness campaigns and parenting support programs, such as the Pierre The Pelican Series and the promotion of Schools for Parents.
