This essay reconstructs the life and career of Giovanni Labus through the extensive use of previously unpublished archival documentation. By drawing on newly discovered sources, the study offers fresh insights into Labus’s intellectual trajectory, scholarly networks, and cultural activities, situating his work within the broader context of nineteenth-century Italian antiquarian and historical studies. Beyond providing a biographical account, the article highlights the value of archival research in reassessing established narratives and contributes to a deeper understanding of Labus’s role in the cultural and intellectual life of his time.
