This article presents a didactic expe-rience aimed at lower and upper secondary school students in Italy through the construc-tion of a virtual escape room. The experience in-volved more than 50 schools and 1500 students on Pi Day 2023, the International Day of Mathe-matics. The article elaborates on the inspiration for the mathematical problems presented and on the development of a virtual context that can emulate the experience of an actual escape room game.
