The paper reviews Gregory A. Waller's monography "Beyond the Movie Theater" by considering its position within the New Cinema History framework and its original historiographic approach to non-theatrical 1910s U.S. cinema. The social functioning of movie projections held outside the standard cinema exhibition network as well as its ideological and economic features are taken into consideration.
