This study, applied to the field of textiles, highlight some issues relating to the interpretation and management of terminological data, arising from polysemy in specialised languages. To better understand the development of new terms with the same linguistic form, textile terminology is observed over a long period, from the eighteenth century to the present day. Four vocables terminologiques in French – FIBRE, FIL, TISSU and ÉTOFFE – are analysed, using a descriptive model by FRASSI (2021), based on Explanatory and Combinatorial Lexicology. The difference between specialised concepts and general language meanings is also analysed based on the meanings of these four vocables recorded in language dictionaries. A diachronic perspective highlights the evolution of specialised knowledge in the field of interest.

Abstract
A diachronic perspective highlights the evolution of specialised knowledge in the field of interest.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
