This article offers a series of reflections on the Arabic medical sources (Avicenna, Ali Abbas, Johannitius, Rhazes, Constantine the African, Isaac Israeli) employed by Aldobrandino of Siena in the composition of his Régime du corps (mid-13th century). Following a comprehensive overview of the sources cited, the study examines the dispositio of the material – particularly in the first part of the treatise – the rationale and methods behind Aldobrandino’s selection of specific authorities, and his reading of academic medical auctoritates with a view to practical application and dissemination among a non-specialist audience. The concluding section focuses specifically on one of these sources, Johannitius’ Isagoge, in order to assess how it is integrated into the overall structure of the Régime.

Abstract
The concluding section focuses specifically on one of these sources, Johannitius’ Isagoge, in order to assess how it is integrated into the overall structure of the Régime.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
