Diplomazia e cultura della pace: l’identità del Cinema dei Diritti Umani di Napoli

Starting from the aim of giving value to the human rights topic within the context of (non) European fi lm industry, the present work will focus on the Italian context in order to better emphasize the peculiarities of the human rights cinema, especially within the context of Italian fi lm festivals and the topic-centered fi lms prometed within their circuit. A specifi c case study – the Human Rights Film Festival in Naples – will be briefl y examined, with the ultimate goal of exploring, through interviews and qualitative analyses, the potential of the fi lm festival director’s role as a facilitator of cultural diplomacy. Particular emphasis will be placed on how this role can inspire critical refl ections and foster models of best practices for the communication of the human rights topic within the cinematic sphere, aiming to produce a tangible impact on both individual and collective identities among festival audiences.
