Book review of an imposing volume, which is the last in a trilogy dedicated to the study of adab, a concept that is as crucial to the understanding of the Islamicate world as it is hard to define. Under the expert steering of Catherine Mayeur-Jaouen, and within the framework of a 5-year research project (2011-2016) sponsored by the Institut Universitaire de France, a qualified and diverse group of scholars explored this concept in its ethical and spiritual dimension and its modern and contemporary avatars, before turning, in this third book, to adab’s origins, its canon, its relationship to power, and its metamorphoses over space and time.

Abstract
Book review of an imposing volume, which is the last in a trilogy dedicated to the study of adab, a concept that is as crucial to the understanding of the Islamicate world as it is hard to define. Under the expert steering of Catherine Mayeur-Jaouen, and within the framework of a 5-year research project (2011-2016) sponsored by the Institut Universitaire de France, a qualified and diverse group of scholars explored this concept in its ethical and spiritual dimension and its modern and contemporary avatars, before turning, in this third book, to adab’s origins, its canon, its relationship to power, and its metamorphoses over space and time.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
