The Tragic Fragments of Apollonides: Philological and Exegetical Notes The article provides an introduction, edition, translation and commentary of the two remaining fragments of the Hellenistic tragedian Apollonides (TrGF I 152). After considering the tradition of the text, the other suspected testimonies on this author and the small story of the criticism, the seven surviving verses are analytically commented on, looking for lexical and thematic parallels (also suggesting analogies with the plot of Euripides’ Alcestis). In the conclusions, in addition to outlining the figure of an imitator of Euripides, a metrical analysis is carried out and a particular correlation with the tradition of another post-Euripidean tragedian, Moschion, is deduced.

Abstract
The Tragic Fragments of Apollonides: Philological and Exegetical Notes The article provides an introduction, edition, translation and commentary of the two remaining fragments of the Hellenistic tragedian Apollonides (TrGF I 152). After considering the tradition of the text, the other suspected testimonies on this author and the small story of the criticism, the seven surviving verses are analytically commented on, looking for lexical and thematic parallels (also suggesting analogies with the plot of Euripides’ Alcestis). In the conclusions, in addition to outlining the figure of an imitator of Euripides, a metrical analysis is carried out and a particular correlation with the tradition of another post-Euripidean tragedian, Moschion, is deduced.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
