The Italian school has been characterised for many years by a plurality of religions, mainly linked to the phenomenon of migration. Starting from this framework, this article first of all illustrates the presence of students with non-Italian citizenship and the challenge of intercultural education, based on precise indications of the Council of Europe and Italian school legislation. However, the main aim is to present the Abu Dhabi declaration as a potential teaching tool in intercultural and interreligious education projects, in order to rethink the concepts of encounter and dialogue, especially as a pedagogical challenge and a preventive measure against all forms of extremism.

Abstract
The Italian school has been characterised for many years by a plurality of religions, mainly linked to the phenomenon of migration. Starting from this framework, this article first of all illustrates the presence of students with non-Italian citizenship and the challenge of intercultural education, based on precise indications of the Council of Europe and Italian school legislation. However, the main aim is to present the Abu Dhabi declaration as a potential teaching tool in intercultural and interreligious education projects, in order to rethink the concepts of encounter and dialogue, especially as a pedagogical challenge and a preventive measure against all forms of extremism.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
