COVID-19 is capable of eliciting persistent neurocognitive alterations. These alter-ations are measurable with widely available test batteries and seem particularly rele-vant in the areas of executive functions in general and attention and working memory specifically. In the context of this ongoing pandemic, it is imperative to intensify and expand research in the field as these cognitive derangements may represent an early stage of mild cognitive impairment in the elderly.

Abstract

COVID-19 is capable of eliciting persistent neurocognitive alterations. These alter-ations are measurable with widely available test batteries and seem particularly rele-vant in the areas of executive functions in general and attention and working memory specifically. In the context of this ongoing pandemic, it is imperative to intensify and expand research in the field as these cognitive derangements may represent an early stage of mild cognitive impairment in the elderly.
